India will buy 36 Rafale fighter planes
January 25, 2016
India and France signed an inter-governmental agreement on Monday, 25 January. India will buy 36 French-built Rafale fighter planes, but the two countries’ leaders said there was still work to do to finalize financial terms, Reuters reported. The deal, worth an estimated $9 billion, was to have been the centerpiece of a visit to India by French President Francois Hollande. He and his host, Narendra Modi, stepped into the deal last year, ordering government-to-government talks after commercial negotiations with the company Dassault Aviation had collapsed.
