Central Asia – a new trans-railway route
December 3, 2014
The heads of state from Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan inaugurated a new railway linking the three countries on Wednesday; the new transit route is expected to increase the volume of goods transported in the region.
The ceremony took place on December 3 in Turkmenistan, where Iranian President Hassan Rohani joined Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov. The 935-kilometer Ozen-Bereket-Gorgan line is now the shortest railway connecting the three states, making for faster transit.
