China arrests former security chief
December 5, 2014
China’s former security chief, Zhou Yongkang, has been arrested, put under investigation on fraud charges and expelled from the Communist Party, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported. A preliminary investigation established Zhou was “seriously violating the Party’s political, organizational and confidentiality discipline,” taking advantage of his posts “to seek profits for others and accepted huge bribes personally and through his family”, the media cited the ruling Communist Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection as saying in a statement.
