Finland ports shut down, public transportation halted due to nationwide strike

HELSINKI: A strike in Finland has shut down ports nationwide and halted public transportation. Workers are protesting government budget cutbacks, including limits to holiday benefits and overtime pay, after labor talks collapsed, AP reported. The national carrier Finnair canceled 16 domestic flights on Friday, 18th September 2015, and airport authorities warn of possible delays. Trains and city buses stopped running, while ferries are running normally. Some shops are expected to be closed later in the day in Helsinki and major cities.
