Iran rejects naming new UN envoy after US refusal
April 12, 2014
TEHRAN — Iran rejected naming a new diplomat Saturday to represent it at the United Nations, with one lawmaker urging the Islamic Republic to stand up to “bullying” from the U.S., which has rejected granting its pick a visa.
Iran proposed a new envoy to the United Nations this week, but the U.S. has objected, citing the envoy’s links to the 1979-1981 hostage crisis.
