Iran successfully test-fires domestically-developed torpedo system
October 13, 2015
Tehran has successfully test-fired an advanced torpedo system, Iran’s state TV said. Dubbed ‘ValFajr’ or Dawn in Farsi, it has a 220 kg warhead that can be used against heavy vessels, AP reported. Tuesday’s report did not give details such as the range or when the test took place. The system, which can travel at high speeds and operate in deep or shallow waters, was originally unveiled in 2011. Iran has reportedly opened a production line to mass-produce the torpedo.
