Iranian MPs release statement on nuclear talks
May 11, 2015
In a statement signed by over 200 deputies of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the MPs took a swipe at the recent bill passed by the US Congress which would allow it to review a nuclear deal and ratify a resolution of disapproval. The statement said inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency of Iran’s nuclear sites remain authorized as long as they are conducted in line with international law.
Inclusion of the recent legislation of the US Congress as a factor in the confirmation of the probable nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1 should not be a new bargaining chip, the statement read.In keeping with the Supreme Leader’s guidelines, the Foreign Ministry is duty-bound to hand in the outcome of the negotiations to parliament so that MPs can ensure its compatibility with national interests, the statement highlighted.
