Poland PM: Eu will not impose sanctions over its new laws
January 14, 2016
Poland PM Beata Szydlo said Thursday she does not believe ”the EU will impose sanctions over its new laws”, AP reported. Brussels on Wednesday decided to carry out a preliminary assessment of the legislation affecting the constitutional court and state media. It has been criticized as running counter to the EU’s principle of the rule of law. Szydlo does not expect sanctions because the “European Commission cannot punish anyone”. She told TVN24, however, that the bloc could suggest steps that Poland should take. “I am not saying that we made no mistakes” the PM added.
