Russia and Germany agree that Syria should become a united secular state, German FM Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Wednesday. “We agreed in Vienna about this as well, having reinforced the agreement in Munich” said Steinmeier at a press conference with Russian FM Sergey Lavrov in Moscow. “We should reach the deal on a united secular state in Syria, in which all the ethnicities could live in peace” the German minister said. Lavrov said that he and Steinmeier share the opinion that the ceasefire in Syria is working well. Moscow and Berlin also believe that all parties representing Syria’s political opposition should attend the inter-Syrian peace talks in Geneva, including the Kurds, Lavrov said.
