Russia launches a new military satellite into orbit

Russia has successfully launched into orbit a military satellite carried by a Proton-M rocket which took off from the Baikonur space center on Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry said. According to the ministry, the satellite now functions normally.
“The satellite, launched in the interests of the Russian Defense Ministry at 3:19am Moscow time (12:19am GMT] on December 13 and carried by the Proton-M carrier rocket from the Baikonur space center, is now operated by the Main Airspace Forces Space Test Center” the ministry said.
