Russian, UK military meet to discuss communication, avoiding incidents
December 18, 2015
Russian and UK military officials discussed creating more rapid communication channels in order to avoid any incidents at sea or in the air, said the Russian Defense Ministry. Deputy Chief of the Russian General Staff Ilya Makushev met with UK Vice Chief of the Defense Staff Stuart Peach, after Britain initiated the talks.
“The sides discussed issues of establishing quick communication links between the relevant bodies within armed forces of Russia and the United Kingdom to prevent incidents at sea and in the air” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. Rapid channels of communication have become particularly vital as both militaries are carrying out airstrikes against Islamic State in Syria.
