Syria talks will be held January 25 ‘as planned’

The negotiations involving the parties to the Syrian conflict are due to take place on January 25 as planned, Vitaly Churkin, Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, said Monday. “They are due to be held, after all the work we have done” TASS quoted him as saying. During a closed-door Security Council meeting, the special envoy of the UN Secretary General for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, is expected to brief Security Council members via a video conference on preparations for launching the new round of the inter-Syrian dialogue.
