Turkey confirms cancelation of missile defense system tender won by China

Turkey’s Defense Ministry confirmed on Tuesday the cancellation of a $3.4 billion long-range missile defense system project awarded to China in 2013, Reuters reported. The decision at that time to choose China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corp as the preferred candidate stirred US and Western concern. NATO member Turkey has now decided to focus instead on developing a defense system with domestic resources, the ministry said.

MOSCOW – ARMY 2018
