Turkey PM says ISIS prime suspect in Ankara bombings

ANKARA: Islamic State (previously ISIS/ISIL) is the focus of investigations into the twin suicide bombings that killed at least 97 people in the Turkish capital Ankara, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Monday. Investigators are close to identifying one of the suspects, Reuters quoted him as saying on NTV. Saturday’s attack was an attempt to influence the outcome of a parliamentary election on November 1, Davutoglu said. “It was determined how the suicide bombers got there. We’re close to a name, which points to one group,” the PM said of the worst attacks in Turkey of their kind. Two senior security sources said Sunday that initial signs suggested that ISIS was behind the attacks, and that they were similar to a July suicide bombing in Suruc near the Syrian border.
