US to build radar station in Norway by 2020 – report
March 31, 2016
A new radar station will start operation in northern Norway by 2020, NRK television reported, citing security sources. Construction is expected to begin by the summer of 2017. The radar will be located in Vardo along with Globus II (AN/FPS-129 Have Stare), which was launched in 2001. Officially, the new radar is intended for tracking “space rubbish” but military experts see it as part of the US global anti-missile system.
